The 14th Socratic Seminar of BitDevs Gitega provided the community with an opportunity to deepen its understanding of current technical discussions within the Bitcoin ecosystem while also strengthening awareness around cybersecurity and data protection.
The seminar brought together Bitcoin enthusiasts, developers, and technically curious members of the community for an open and educational discussion on two important areas: recent developments and debates surrounding Bitcoin technical proposals, and emerging cybersecurity threats affecting Bitcoin users and services. A major part of the session was led by Advaxe NDAYISENGA, who provided an in-depth discussion on OP_RETURN and BIP-110. His presentation aimed to provide the community with a clearer understanding of what is actually happening within the Bitcoin ecosystem and to bring more context to the ongoing technical discussions surrounding these topics.
Rather than simply presenting the concepts at a theoretical level, Advaxe explained the broader context behind the discussions and provided detailed clarifications to help participants better understand the different developments taking place within the ecosystem. The discussion allowed participants to ask questions, exchange perspectives, and develop a more informed understanding of the technical issues currently being discussed within the Bitcoin community.
The second major part of the seminar focused on Bitcoin cybersecurity. Dod BUKOTO presented an update on recent cybersecurity developments and threats affecting the Bitcoin ecosystem. He particularly discussed the recent attacks involving Gold Card and BTC Pay, highlighting the importance of remaining vigilant when interacting with Bitcoin-related services and technologies.
The cybersecurity discussion emphasized the importance of protecting sensitive information and adopting stronger security practices. Participants were encouraged to remain cautious, protect their personal and sensitive data, and pay greater attention to potential security threats when using Bitcoin-related tools and services. The session concluded with an open discussion in which participants reflected on the technical developments presented and the importance of cybersecurity within the broader Bitcoin ecosystem. The seminar reinforced the role of BitDevs Gitega as a space where community members can follow current Bitcoin developments, deepen their technical knowledge, exchange ideas, and develop greater awareness of the risks and opportunities emerging within the ecosystem.
